Estoy muy emocionada, como siempre que hay alg\u00fan juego interesante en los blogs, Facebook o twitter (o myspace, hi5 o lo que sea). Resulta que la escritora Judy Goldman<\/a> me pas\u00f3 la estafeta para participar en The next big thing, un acontecimiento bloguero de esos bonitos, old school, surgido en Australia pero que se expande por el mundo\u2026
\nAs\u00ed que, primero que nada, agradezco a Judy la invitaci\u00f3n (vayan y conozcan su sitio en este link<\/a> o all\u00e1 arriba donde est\u00e1 su nombre; anden, yo ac\u00e1 los espero) y a continuaci\u00f3n contesto las preguntas de The next big thing<\/em>, primero en espa\u00f1ol (ya que este blog es b\u00e1sicamente en espa\u00f1ol) y luego en ingl\u00e9s (para no romper la cadena). Adem\u00e1s, para que realmente sea una cadena, hay que invitar hasta cinco escritores\/ilustradores a que tomen la estafeta y contesten las preguntas el pr\u00f3ximo viernes en sus respectivos blogs. Mis invitados son tres escritores y una ilustradora de los que soy fan entusiasta (adem\u00e1s de que son blogs que me encantar\u00eda ver m\u00e1s activos):

1.\t\u00bfCu\u00e1l es el t\u00edtulo provisional de tu pr\u00f3ximo libro?<\/strong>
\nKriptonita en la primera pregunta: soy p\u00e9sima con los t\u00edtulos y si me detuviera a escoger uno que me guste, nunca llegar\u00eda al punto de ponerme a escribir la historia. Pero ya que hay que decirle de alguna manera al coso, pues de momento se llama La abuela malvada<\/em>.<\/p>\n

2.\t\u00bfDe d\u00f3nde te lleg\u00f3 la idea para el libro?<\/strong>
\nSoy fan absoluta del horror desde que era ni\u00f1a y ten\u00eda, desde hace a\u00f1os, el deseo de escribir una novela de horror para esa ni\u00f1a que fui. <\/p>\n

3.\t\u00bfEn qu\u00e9 g\u00e9nero cae tu libro?<\/strong>
\nNovela de horror para chavos.<\/p>\n

4.\t\u00bfQu\u00e9 actores elegir\u00edas para hacer una versi\u00f3n cinematogr\u00e1fica de tu libro?<\/strong>
\nMe gusta Judy Dench para la abuela. Para el protagonista, Gael Bernal cuando ten\u00eda 12 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

5.\t\u00bfCu\u00e1l ser\u00eda la sinopsis de una l\u00ednea de tu libro?<\/strong>
\nUn ni\u00f1o es aprisionado por un fantasma en una casa en la que se confunde la realidad con las pesadillas. <\/p>\n

6.\t\u00bfQui\u00e9n publica tu libro? \/ \u00bfSer\u00e1 un libro autopublicado o representado por una agencia?<\/strong>
\nAqu\u00ed comienzan las discrepancias culturales, me temo, pero no es el momento de ponernos a hablar de las agencias en este lado del r\u00edo Bravo. Yendo al grano, dir\u00e9 que a\u00fan no s\u00e9 qui\u00e9n lo vaya a publicar, pero que me empezar\u00e9 a preocupar de eso cuando sienta que ya est\u00e1 perfectamente terminado. <\/p>\n

7.\t\u00bfCu\u00e1nto te tom\u00f3 escribir el primer borrador del manuscrito?<\/strong>
\nTodav\u00eda no lo termino, pero calculo que me tomar\u00e1 unos dos meses trabajando de corridito.<\/p>\n

8.\t\u00bfCon qu\u00e9 libros del mismo g\u00e9nero comparar\u00edas tu historia?<\/strong>
\nMe encantar\u00eda pensar que tiene cierta hermandad con los cuentos de Jean Ray (en cuanto al g\u00e9nero \u201chorror\u201d) y con las narraciones para ni\u00f1os de Ana Mar\u00eda Shua en La f\u00e1brica del terror.<\/p>\n

9.\t\u00bfQui\u00e9n o qu\u00e9 te inspir\u00f3 a escribir este libro?<\/strong>
\nUn viejo \u00e1lbum fotogr\u00e1fico que encontr\u00e9 en casa. Al hojearlo, me di cuenta de que no sab\u00eda nada de la mayor\u00eda de la gente retratada, y eso que son mi familia. Pens\u00e9 que podr\u00eda ser interesante inventar aquello que no sab\u00eda, y a la vez plantear la idea de que damos por hecho un mont\u00f3n de cosas sobre las personas sin saber realmente nada.<\/p>\n

10.\t\u00bfQu\u00e9 m\u00e1s del libro podr\u00eda picar la curiosidad de los lectores?<\/strong>
\nQue, adem\u00e1s, de la historia de miedo, hay un enigma por resolver, por lo que se trata tambi\u00e9n de una historia de suspenso.<\/p>\n

The Next Big Thing<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m very excited, as I always am when there\u2019s an interesting meme or game on blogs, Facebook or Twitter (or MySpace, Hi5 or whatever). Turns out writer Judy Goldman<\/a> gave me the baton for participating in The Next Big Thing: a nice, old school blog event, of Australian origin but rapidly traveling the world\u2026
\nSo, first of all, I thank Judy for the invitation (you should go and visit her site; go now, I\u2019ll wait right here), and next I\u2019ll answer the questions of the Next Big Thing game. I did it so first in Spanish (because that is this blog\u2019s primary language) and then (now) in English.
\nBesides, in order to make the game continue as a chain (as it is expected), I must invite up to five writers or illustrators to take the baton from me and answer the questions in their respective blogs or sites. My invitation goes to the following people:<\/p>\n

Here, the Q&A,<\/p>\n

1. What is the working title of your next book?<\/strong>
\nThis first question is kryptonite! I\u2019m really bad at choosing titles and if I had to stop and pick one I am absolutely sure I really like I\u2019d never get to the point of beginning to write the story! However, since I have to somehow identify the thing, a working title can be Evil Grandma<\/em>.<\/p>\n

2. Where did the idea come from for the book?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m a huge horror fan since I was little and for many years I had wanted to write a horror novel for the little girl I was.<\/p>\n

3. What genre does your book fall under?<\/strong>
\nHorror novel for young readers.<\/p>\n

4. What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019d like Judy Dench for the role of the Grandma. For my protagonist, I\u2019d like Gael Garc\u00eda Bernal (the Mexican actor)\u2026 when he was twelve.<\/p>\n

5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?<\/strong>
\nA boy is imprisoned by a ghost in a house where reality gets mixed with nightmares.<\/p>\n

6. Who is publishing your book? Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?<\/strong>
\nHere begin the cultural differences between Mexico and other countries, I\u2019m afraid, but this is not the time to talk about how agencies \u201cwork\u201d south of the Rio Grande. More to the point, I\u2019ll say I don\u2019t know yet who will be publishing it, but I\u2019ll start worrying about that when I finish the story.<\/p>\n

7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?<\/strong>
\nIt isn\u2019t finished yet, but I guess it will take two solid months to complete.<\/p>\n

8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019d love to think it\u2019s in some way similar to the horror stories of Jean Ray (a Belgian writer I admire enormously) and at the same time to Argentinian writer Ana Mar\u00eda Shua\u2019s stories for children in her book The Horror Factory<\/em>.<\/p>\n

9. Who or what inspired you to write this book?<\/strong>
\nIt was an old photo album I found in my house. Leafing through it, I realized I knew nothing about most of the people who appeared in the pictures, and I was astonished because they were my own family. I thought it could be interesting to invent that which I didn\u2019t know, and at the same time write something about how we assume a lot of things about people without actually knowing anything for sure.<\/p>\n

10. What else about the book might pique the reader’s interest?<\/strong>
\nMaybe that, aside from being a horror story, there is an enigma to be solved, so it is also a mystery story.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
